Service Tech

Job Title: Service Tech

Reports to: Tamarack Developments

Location: 3187 Albion Road, Ottawa, Ontario

Work Description

The Service Tech is responsible for the overall delivery of the customer service initiative at Tamarack Development site locations. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality approach to all homeowners, employees, tenants, managers and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with the Tamarack vision, mission, and must comply with all company policies and procedures. The Service Tech must work in coordination with the Site Superintendent, and must ensure the timely delivery of service to all Tamarack Homes clients. 

Major Responsibilities:

Service Tech

  • Repair and troubleshoot any issues that would have been noted by the home owner on the 30 day and year-end report.
  • Meet and interact with homeowners on a day to day basis. Providing customer service that is aligned with the Tamarack service standards.
  • Respond to emergency service calls. These will be assigned by the Service department or the site superintendent. (I.e. locks not working, windows or doors not closing properly, garage doors that may be faulty) address and resolve on a case to case basis.
  • Repair duties include but are not exclusive to drywall, framing, soffit and fascia, cabinetry adjustments, ceramic tiles, lighting, plumbing, railings and roadways repairs etc.
  • Repair any deficiencies outlined by the Site Inspector before the homeowners take possession.
  • Respond to work orders on a day to day basis.
  • Once a deficiency list has been prepared work through list and document changes made. Sign off on all completed work.
  • When repairs or issues cannot be resolved, notify site superintendent and coordinate with the appropriate trade to come in and make the adjustment.
  • Schedule time spent on-site with Construction Manager and/or Superintendent to discuss recent problems and initiate resolutions and improvement plans.
  • Prepare documentation on servicing performed for home owners. Track all maintenance required from start to finish.
  • Regularly visit sites to stay up to date on the current progress of the construction sites.
  • Follow-up, maintain, and inform appropriate individuals at Head Office and Warranty Service Managers of all correspondence received from Home Owners.
  • Liaise between Homeowner and community Construction/Warranty departments; provide follow-up and advice of outcome.
  • Keep Homeowners informed on the status of their home through ongoing communication at designated times (i.e. prior to move in, 30 days after move in etc.…)
  • Send out Construction Status Updates to the service department through the superintendent on a weekly basis in order for Homeowners to receive updates on their home.
  • Distribute construction and community notifications as well as educational Homeowner material. 

.Statement of Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Previous experience as a Carpenter, preferably having completed a carpentry apprentice program.
  • Finished carpentry experience, predominantly finishing home detail work experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years in the home building industry
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to deal professionally and effectively with homeowners.
  • Physically fitness and manual dexterity are required.
  • Quality orientation and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge and use of Imperial and Metric measurements
  • Strong mathematical reasoning.
  • Ability to use heavy machinery- power tools.

Physical/Sensory Effort/Work Environment

  • Providing service to several people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines
  • Sitting or Standing for long periods of time at workstation
  • Heavy manual labor, requires ability to climb ladders and lift and manipulate objects up to 80lbs
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.)
  • Hazards associated with the construction industry.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Flexible, with the ability to work at various locations across the division

 

 

 





Home Inspector

Job Title: Home Inspector

Reports to: Service Manager

Location: 3187 Albion Road, Ottawa, Ontario

Work Description

The Home Inspector has a role in the overall delivery of Tamarack’s customer service process. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality approach to all colleagues, customers, and trade partners. All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with the Tamarack vision, mission, and must comply with all company policies and procedures.

Major Responsibilities:

Site Inspector

  • Works with the Service Manager, Customer Care Reps and Site Staff on all Tamarack Development sites
  • Conducts a series of inspections on all homes before and after occupancy for the duration of the warranty period
  • Provides education and guidance to customers on industry standards, warranty coverage, warranty repairs, system functions and home maintenance
  • Ensure compliance with Industry standards, Tamarack’s standards and Tarion’s Construction Performance Guidelines
  • Assesses all customer requests for warranty repairs
  • Documents warranted deficiencies and creates work orders and schedules repair dates
  • Provide detailed reports of identified problems, what repairs should be made.
  • Create work orders that are well articulated and clear and accurate
  • Perform other related duties as assigned which are in keeping with the terms of this position

Statement of Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of home building industry, and energy star building practices.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and the Tarion Construction Performance Guidelines
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction.
  • Strong customer service skills in dealing with homeowners.
  • Good communications skills- especially verbal.
  • Good knowledge of Windows, Adobe, Microsoft Outlook
  • Ability to coordinate several simultaneous tasks while maintaining a positive attitude and flexible work style.
  • Good organizational skills with ability to get things done according to timelines
  • Self-motivated with ability to work well independently, and a willingness to learn

Physical/Sensory Effort/Work Environment

  • Standing, walking, speaking for long periods of time
  • Ability to climb ladder to access roof tops and attic spaces
  • Ability to move around inside attic areas, with minimal space
  • Ability to work efficiently with a variety of computer applications
  • Unexpected overtime may be required on occasion.
  • Exposure to extreme weather and the elements. Working outdoors to inspect the exterior of the house and property.
