    Our Legacy

    In 1948, Harold Taggart began transforming streets in the Glebe and Ottawa’s west end into homes for returning war veterans. With a commitment to craftsmanship, community, and integrity, Harold set a new standard for homebuilding excellence, one that endures to this day.

    Over the decades, his family built upon that foundation, forming the Taggart Group of Companies including Tamarack Homes, Taggart Construction, Taggart Realty Management, Doran Contractors, and Tartan Homes.

    Today, every Tamarack home reflects the dedication, innovation, and care that have defined the family’s legacy for more than 75 years.

    The Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend is one of Canada’s largest multi-day running festival organized by Run Ottawa, bringing together tens of thousands of participants, volunteers, and spectators each spring to Ottawa’s downtown core. Featuring events and races for all ages and abilities, it transforms the city into a celebration of movement, community spirit, and shared achievement.     Taggart Group of Companies

    The roots of the Taggart Group of Companies date back to the early 1940s when Harold Taggart started building homes in the west end of Ottawa. After recognizing an opportunity in servicing the land for new home construction, Harold decided to start a construction company specializing in infrastructure. He founded Taggart Construction in 1948, it flourished and provided the momentum needed for the continued growth of the Taggart Group of Companies.
